Talked to a guy recently from one of the Danish companies which did a 4 hour work week years ago.
They still love it - both employer and employees.

However, their key to making it work is to close the office completely, informing clients and changing their ways of working when they are in the office. Pomodoro, short concentrated sprints etc.

I've thought about doing it this way. The failed attempt at everyone taking whatever day they want sounds like a nightmare to manage.

My brother-in-law works for an oil company and they have him working 4 days of 10 hour shifts (11 with breaks).  They had him on a rotation where he would get a Friday off every other week and a rotating day off on the other week.  Kinda odd, but nice because he could easily plan a three day weekend.  Since Covid it has gotten a bit more irregular.

We do Summer Fridays here where between Memorial Day and Labor Day we work half days on Fridays. Our calendars are automatically blocked out on Fridays so people can't schedule meetings.
