French monks pray for more cheese eaters
« on: March 28, 2021, 03:38:12 AM »
Because they are now sitting on 2.8 tonnes of cheese as a result of COVID

I wonder how many times this is playing out across the globe

I read in that article or elsewhere that online sales are going pretty well.

>cheese

Cheese is essentially salty phosphorous and therefore verboten to those with kidney problems.  Unfortunately, I am addicted to Southern(?) Hoop Cheese, which is a sharp, musky, slightly citrus-y cheddar.  IIRC, Rumbas & family sampled some with us at the regional country store mecca - LAYDEN'S

Oh no! No fruit and no cheese? I know (think) those are totally separate problems, but that's a bummer. At least there's still coffee

>no fruit

No nuts, no cheese, other dairy products severely restricted, mostly restricted fruits, heavily restricted green vegetables & legumes, restricted wheat & grains.

I used my internet deep search skills to work out what I *could* eat on the late stage renal failure diet  ...I ended up with a short list of about 90 items. Many of those are sugary snacks.  Nothing was on the web back then as renal diets fall under the tight-fisted control of renal dietitians who provide consultations for a fee.

No BS, I'm now considered as one of the renal diet authorities in our clinic. The nephrologist has even told the dietitian to check with me on some new items. My monthly blood labs track about 10 nutrients items and I'm on target for 3 years now.

I'm going to guess that nobody on The Core is surprised by that.

Sounds like my nephew. When people ask, "Is there anything you can't eat?" he responds, "It's just easier if I bring my own food." Like you, he goes off a whitelist, not a blacklist.

Yeah, I've found quite a few really nice foods --still adding a few every now and then.  As for genres or cultural sources, I've found that I do the best with Southwestern / Mexican foods as they tend to be corn-based rather than wheat-based.  They also use peppers rather than so much salt, and peppers are 'free' on my diet. Onions are free, too.

Overall, my diet trends toward being keto-ish.  I'm eating foods -Layden's pork sausage, for instance- that the dietitians would nix but my great labworks pretty much give me carte blanche.  I routinely push the envelope with new, forbidden foods, watch my labs, then adjust.  I like my diet now, with the exception that I have to stay away from restaurants.

We have mirror image diets - generally speaking your good/free foods are on my "no" list and vice versa.
