Interesting read.  Frankly, we, on ground zero, all knew this but it's nice to see it confirmed by people with degrees and such.

So since the US manufacturing capability is now gutted, what do we do if trade gets cut off with China due to war or a snit?

That thought was what was behind my comment that we missed the window of opportunity to diplomatically recognize Taiwan as a country. I don't think we'd dare now.

We'll see what historians say in 100 years (well, actually, I suppose none of us will), but increasingly, I read people talking about the "neo-liberal presidents," which is basically Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama. One thing Trump did do was call into question the neo-liberal orthodoxy and the US position on China. That's one area where Biden has not tried to roll back Trump policy.
