A new report from LendingTree analyzed thousands of MyLendingTree users' anonymized credit reports in 165 metropolitan cities across California reveals the most debt-ridden places in the state.

ADDED:
I know a man NoCal that I used to work with in real estate who has $150K in CC debt.

I know a man NoCal that I used to work with in real estate who has $150K in CC debt.

How? Why?

Most people I know who have huge non-mortgage debt have had a medical issue. I know people who have more CC debt than they should, but the bad cases are almost all the result of medical bills. In some cases, these are not even their own medical bills (kids who took on taking care of parents).

I did know one guy who was a single programmer making $50k/year (this was 1988), spending $500/mo on rent, no other bills. He got laid off and I assumed at least he would have a lot of savings. He said that no, he had $7500 in CC debt. I asked him how. He said, "I eat out a lot."

I asked him how often, and he said "Lunch and dinner most days." Now that's just being an idiot.

I'm pretty sure that a good numbers of cc debtors are using multiple cards just to juggle/postpone monthly expenses.  It's a form of denial about their true circumstances.
