Wombo AI: a deepfake app that takes a photograph of anyone and turns it into an AI-powered lip-synching star.

Deepfakes are getting really weird now

Sometimes I'll watch some TV nostalgia on YT and see some presenters that were visibly younger 'back in the day'.

It'd be interesting to know if they'd let their AI show natural ageing. It'd be weird watching TV from 20 years ago and seeing the same 'person' look exactly how they are now, giving no frame of reference of time.

OTOH, I think that will be part of the allure of creating actors that remain the same.  When I think of -say- Clint Eastwood, I remember him as if he was still Dirty Harry age.

>Clint Eastwood

True. Watched his last one and he's definitely getting up there in age, a wee bit past his prime

I suppose people who are no longer alive could also be used. Maybe contentious, but novel.

Prince had a strict ban on his music being online.

Quote
...back to 2007 when a mother uploaded a video on YouTube of her children dancing to Prince’s song Let’s Go Crazy. Although the video was only 29 seconds long and barely audible, Prince demanded that his music be taken off YouTube, saying that he intended to “reclaim his art on the internet.”

That changed soon after his death, now all his music is free flowing on streaming platforms and his videos are all on youtube.  I guess whoever inherited his estate wanted to cash in.

The Tom Cruise deepfake that set off 'terror' in the heart of Washington DC

A series of clips depicting one of the most recognised faces in the world, created by one guy at home with a computer, had fooled virtually every piece of publicly available deepfake-detection technology.

Yeah, I saw a demo of the AI deepfake overlays that are becoming available to streamers.  Looked real to me.
