I just did a quick search and it looks like Amazon has over 100 million Prim subscribers. I guess there are a lot of people using Prime for shopping but not using the subscription service for streaming even though they are paying for it?

Yeah, that's what Louise does. Amz doesn't have a recommendation engine. And the content seems to skew more heavily toward the 18-35 demographic.
Netflix has lost some of it's recommendation ranking power since it dropped the 'star' system but it's still possible to be a somewhat passive viewer with its suggestions. Also, the binge-watching is a big deal. I tried to tell Bezos but, NOooooo, he wouldn't listen.

We have had prime a couple years. I don't think I've even looked at the streaming offering.

I watch the Grand Tour on Prime but I don't look at what else is there. I really should.

There are some kids shows my kids watch on Prime but when my wife or I want to watch something we rarely look for something on Prime. If we want to rent or buy a movie that is a different story. Those are almost always on Prime. But if the video stuff wasn't included with my Prime account I don't know if I would pay for it separately.
Netflix has done a better job on its original stuff than Prime so far. They have some excellent shows. There have been a couple good movies but they will need to start stepping up their movie game soon, especially with Disney launching their streaming service. And when Prime gets their Tolkien project going that could be huge for them.

Some irony in that seeing as they pretty much invented the recommendation engine for ecommerce.
