Five years from now this technology will be that much more sophisticated, I am not sure how we will be able to process what is real anymore.  I suppose the default will be to disbelieve.

At first, movie stars will be licensing their faces for legit movies & commercials whipped up on deepfakes. Then we'll create a 'vapor star' to get around the licensing fee.  Eventually, there will be no need for real celebs --we'll generate them.

You ever see the movie Looker from 1981 RC?  It basically predicted this idea, though it was a thriller, so they killed off the actors to get out of having to pay royalties.

I don't watch many movies, so I've thankfully missed both of the above  ...but I knew about them and their plots from reviews.  With vapor stars in mind, I've been watching gaming scenes and characters develop since we left 8-bit.  I'd love to see our celeb culture decimated. We're now getting close to having a deepfakes alternative.  Though having the fake celebs controlled by Big Tech isn't what I had in mind.

Yeah, celebrity by comity and algorithm doesn't seem that great to me -- that's basically kpop.
