This just happened at the edge of my new neighborhood. Looks like they launched from one of the movie studio lots.

Disneyworld had a drone show about that size last xmas.  It was in partnership with Intel.

If drones replace fireworks, they can pay for it with the pyrotechnic insurance savings alone.

My thought as well when I first saw the thread.

Protesters (Hong Kong, maybe) just armed a street blockade with a massive battery of pocket lasers.  The police were staying well away from that one.
