My 2 sons are on their way to CES as we speak.

My son says: "I believe this AI assistant technology is how we will bridge the gap between a human massage and a robot massage. "

#ROBOTS

Just got back from Vegas and I saw a TON of Google advertisements on taxis, hotel signs, etc.

I got a Pixel 2 (a treat for myself) and a home mini + chromecast (a present from the kids) for Xmas.
I am having so much fun with them, but it really is a sign of how lazy we are all going to become tho.

Remember how Google+ was going to battle Facebook dominance? Day late, dollar short.

Just popped up in my feed:

Here’s Why Alexa Won CES Before The Show Even Started

Quote
Google wants those ads to create the vibe that its Assistant is the go-to choice for consumer electronics companies looking to build a brain into their device.

But the current reality is different than the marketing message. This year, 45.4 million Americans will talk to an AI assistant inside smart speakers, says research firm eMarketer. But only about a quarter of them will be talking to Google’s Assistant, while almost 68% will be talking to Amazon’s Alexa.

Amazon's market share doesn't surprise me. They do have that key advantage of being a retailer so adding an echo to their cart along with their other items is an easy upsell.
Shame, as I've used both and I much prefer Google but then I have sold my soul to them :D

Reminds me of Google's attempt to clone Twitch.tv on Youtube, and the Twitch.tv response:

Google is blocking Youtube from Amazon Echo Show

If you can't beat 'em, build a walled garden.

Interesting to see the general consensus in the comments is that Amazon is in the wrong, not Google

Amazon also blocks Prime streaming from Android devices.

Yeah, it's a real pissing contest.  Overall, my tech feeds tend to blame both of them about equally. But on the 'retail' side of the news, most are b###hing at Amazon.  Then again, there are 3 times as many users to b###h at Amz.
