Related: Because of the above, I was half ready to order a new Nexus 10 tablet. But I started using my old HP Touchpad running Android instead. Sort of to my surprise, it ain't half bad. First it runs Android better than it ran Webos. Second, the dual core 1.2 Ghz processor in the TP isn't too far behind the 1.7 dual core chip in the Nexus 10. Third, the TP has those nice speakers. Yeah it isn't lightning fast for games but I don't play them anyway.
Downside is the weight of the TP. Screen could be higher res. but I can live with this. Battery does not last all that long especially when playing audio while working.
Still I can't see any reason to upgrade right now. I think I will wait until the next generation of large Nexus Tablets comes out, and use the heck out of this TP in the meantime.
Maybe this is why 10 inch Android tablet sales are soft, the 3rd Gen tablets are not offering significant advantages over the 2nd Gen tablets that are still for sale new used and refurbished at a discount.
