Its amazing how much of that old code is still out there doing things. I read an account were a company had a modern machine running a virtual machine to run legacy code that can't run on modern hardware. My step mother retired a few years ago as a COBOL programmer from one of the big national banks. She had to train her replacement before she could retire.
