Internet Explorer: Microsoft plans 'silent' updates

Seems pretty major...and goodbye to all those older versions of IE for the most part.......
From January, Internet Explorer (IE) users will be automatically updated to the latest version of the browser.
Microsoft said it was starting the project to update millions of machines to improve security online.
Future updates to the browser would be applied without a user's knowledge to help beat scammers catching people out with fake updates.
Those who did not want their browser updated could opt out or uninstall the software, said Microsoft.

Seems like a smart idea for MS. As a consumer it might bother me in that my choice is being taken away (if I actually used IE), but as a webmaster it sounds like good news to me.

Consumers don't care and administrators have full control of deployment through Windows Server Update Services. It's a smart move by Microsoft.
There might be a problem though. Consumers who are still using ie6 or ie7 probably don't update their OS, and I'm the pretty sure that need to install and update to get the automatic updates.

Also, there have been some big sep changes in the GUI, and the reason I don't update Dads, is that he could not cope with the changes.
