Ugh.

I assume you're read about Ring and Wyze recently?

I'm very happy with Hubitat, but of all the major IOT offline replacements the community has fabricobbled together, they haven't put together a good local-only camera system yet. I do think they're getting close, though. Trouble is, I want good-fast-cheap. ^{(Cue NFFC.)}

Nah, all my TV's are ancient by flat screen standards. Strictly dumb TV's. I even disconnected Roku and Amz Fire. However I do have Alexa-in-a-can but all I use it for is news briefings. Although it's in the kitchen so anyone listening has probably learned some creative cuss words during my attempts to cook. heh.

All my appliances are dumb ...but that's a battle front-line that's going to be harder & harder to maintain as our vendors switch to 'smart' products.

I have Ecobee and Alexa and am eyeing replacing both of them with local alternatives. Ecobee will be first. It's do-able now, but will be better/easier once Hubitat matures.

I see streaming, ISPs, and cell phones & apps as the largest vulnerabilities. Of those, it's Louise's devices that I need to sandbox within the network.

Post by: rcjordan on January 04, 2020, 09:11:35 PM: I am increasingly convinced that chaff is the only marginally effective way to alter|skew the dossier ISPs & marketers are keeping on you. I'm confidant that my allied efforts have clouded my browser tracks, but extensions that mark hundreds or thousands of links 'as read' daily aren't going to do anything to ISPs & VPNs. We're going to have to fire up something like Xenu's Link Sleuth and point it to a bunch of mommy blogs.
