Six U.S. intelligence agencies warn against using Huawei phones
« on: February 15, 2018, 12:04:23 PM »
“We’re deeply concerned about the risks of allowing any company or entity that is beholden to foreign governments that don’t share our values to gain positions of power inside our telecommunications networks. That provides the capacity to exert pressure or control over our telecommunications infrastructure. It provides the capacity to maliciously modify or steal information. And it provides the capacity to conduct undetected espionage.”

Kind of a bummer since I have one and it's the best Android phone I've ever had.  I won't ditch this one but I won't buy Huawei again. *sigh*

Which did you go for Brad?  We had an earlier one in the family.  it was cheap, but did not last long.

I have a Huawei Mate 9. Solid, fast, great battery life, lots of memory for the money.

I have a Purism Librem 5, running Linux, on preorder which should arrive in about a year. It ought to be more secure. Hopefully it will also work.
