SRWare Iron Vs Chrome
« on: June 19, 2012, 01:21:53 AM »
Its basically Chrome minus all the communication with Google, plus UA flexibility, and native ad block.

SRware is my primary Chromium browser. I've been using it for years. I do have Chrome on one machine, but everything else is SRware.

Positive:
  • No different from Chrome in operation
  • Extentions all seem to work the same
  • You can sync settings between Chrome and SRware via your Google account
  • No reporting back to the mother ship

Negative:
  • Does not auto-update (this could be a positive)

Thanks for the tip. Been trying to use ie for a week and have up yesterday. Chrome works so nicely but the way google track it makes it creepy.  Eg on my pc il just browse my rankings click on a site. Later on my iPad the site I clicked on will be top, this is which both devices being signed out of google.

Are you using the Sync settings? It will sync tabs and history if you let it. Change that under the Advanced Settings for Sync.

While I'm loving the fact you can use a chromium browser without big G watching you, I need side tabs.

With having way too many tabs open than I should, and being able to group them together, firefox with the tree style plugin is still the only browser that fits in with how I work.
It was a sad day when G 'fixed' the bug that stopped side tabs from working :(

I looked but can't see anything.  On iPad I'm using Safari so presumed there wouldn't be any syncing only personalisation based on my IP.

I've been using it as secondary browser since bill mentioned it a couple years ago.

Great browser, but still addicted to FF.

@hungrygoose I thought you were talking about 2 instances of Chrome. If it's Chrome and Safari then you're probably dealing with the Google cookie if you're logged in.

I'm actually logged into on Chrome but on Safari I'm not.. I try to keep my iPad away from G.
