Title: The Creator of JavaScript Just Launched a Cryptocurrency to Improve Online Ads
Post by: Rumbas on February 20, 2018, 09:07:46 AM
We just hired a young kid with a degree in AI and prediction modelling. We use him to build predition churn models for customers in a huge ecommerce shop. Fascinating!

He's writing a paper on Cryto and pointed me to this stuff:

Not sure I get it though - it's a browser:

I bought some BAT for a punt. I liked the idea.

This is getting close to my ideal - just like BATs, but without advertisers. I put in $$/mo and get X tokens, which I can then use on any site that accepts them in incremental, pay per article increments.

If BATs took off, it seems like it would be relatively easy, once there was widespread adoption, to then just offer an ad-free experience for those willing to pay and an ad experience for those who don't. I could see this as a viable path for getting to an online media ecosystem that is more user-centered.

It still has the unfortunate consequence that income tracks linearly with traffic, not with quality. I guess the ultimate system would be where it's 1 BAT to view an article, 10 BAT if you spend more than one minute on it.
