I may have to install it for directx 12 but i'm waiting as long as i can.

cjs-cdkeys are now selling W10 for £12.

W10 has lots of privacy concerns since it's a hybrid desktop/cloud OS, so switch all the crap off :

According to the splash screen, I just received the Creators Update.  A couple of icons appeared in the taskbar but were easily unpinned. So far, I've not seen any changes in my desktop or file explorer.

Initial boot seems slower, but not by much.

I am still locked down. Hell hath no fury like a drastic with an uninvited PC reboot.

Let us know how you like it.

IIRC they've eased up on that already after the pitchforks got close to their homestead. I get pop-ups now asking if Now, Later, or Snooze.

According to the spammy splash page, I just updated to the Fall Creators version.  I did NOT connect my android phone to the pc using MS's new service and ignored all the other new features.  The splash page worried me, but -so far- it hasn't crept onto my desktop though one new icon for "people" had to be deleted from the task bar.

Just now seeing this. It's about damn time. I think I would have switched OS if I could have when all this went down.

That stuff aside, this has been a pretty good experience so far. And that's with several workstations.

I've been running it on 2 machines for a couple or three months now.

I upgraded on both machines from W7 for free :

https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/accessibility/windows10upgrade

I only just got the creators update a couple of days ago, but i do remember reading they were rolling out internationally at different times.

I've enjoyed it so far, once it's tweaked and you install classic shell : http://www.classicshell.net/

Workaround for Windows 10 April 2018 Update causing Chrome freeze-up

Quote
[1] Try a Windows key sequence to wake the screen.  If you have a keyboard connected, simultaneously press the Windows logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B. If you’re on a tablet, simultaneously press both the volume-up and volume-down buttons, three times within 2 seconds.  If Windows is responsive, a short beep will sound and the screen will blink or dim while Windows attempts to refresh the screen.

[2] If you’re using a laptop, close and open the laptop lid.

I've been trying to figure out whether a repeating intermittent problem was router- or wifi-based signal issues, but that doesn't seem quite right as I can hear the laptop max out grinding away on something while it stalls.  This might be it.
