Title: Youtube TV Raises Price to 50/55
Post by: Drastic on April 11, 2019, 12:50:11 PM
I've been grandfathered on the original 35/month and have no interest in the new discovery channels.

We're out.

I was wondering if you'd stay in.

Netflix has really screwed the pooch for competitive streaming services.  LPJ keeps asking me about Hulu because her (woefully non-tech) friends like it.  She's interested until I tell her the price.

We're still Netflix, Sling (orange) with dvr option, and NFL Gamepass (for out-of-region games).

We have Amz Prime, but use it rarely. Amz currently has Thursday Night NFL package. LPJ sometimes uses that.

We still have the ChannelMaster dvr for OTA. LPJ occasionally uses that, but extremely rare.

All in all, the total package is B-grade.  If I were to recommend any expansion, I'd add Sling Blue. (But I suspect she wouldn't really use it much).

<added>

Last month, she added Inoreader(free ver) to her daily "viewing" options.  But she's only interested if she can use Tampermonkey filters.  See http://th3core.com/talk/water-coolerextra/tampermonkey-causes-yet-another-chromebook-in-the-house/

We'll discuss at Asheville if you're interested.

Yeah I want to know more.

Right now, the best alt I've seen for us is also $50 but throws in NFL network and a couple other things. Playstation VUE, $50/month. And they won't be raising the price every few months like Google.

Search to see if NFL Network goes out-of-region. IIRC, it does not.  That may work for you, but LPJ *neeeeds* Green Bay, soooo I'm out $100 a year for Gamepass.
