California Prop 24

Interesting to look at who supports the law and who opposes. The main supporters I find are a real estate developer and an app developer.
Opponents include the EFF, ACLE, Consumer Federation, League of Women Voters
But current polling show it to be a shoe-in.

Short answer: California's answer to GDPR, but there are a lot of details. The bill is 55 pages long and it's hard to sort out.
The bigger question is, why does EFF and ACLU and the Consumer Federation oppose a consumer privacy law? The allegation is that it makes "pay for privacy" easier for companies, makes it harder to find out what your employer is gathering on you, and makes your privacy "non-portable" so if you cross the border into Nevada, a CA company with a CA customer can behave like a NV company with a NV customer.
But I'm really not up to speed on it at all

It has quite the split of supporters and opponents. This one has had me stumped the most of all the props. I'm leaning towards 'no' though.

That's exactly where I'm at. On the surface, it seemed like an obvious slam-dunk yes for me, but from what little I've looked into it, I'm leaning no. If someone who I trusted had a strong argument for yes, I'd flip again.

It is much critiqued, but overall I am glad the Prop system is in place.
