adsense 2024
« on: January 28, 2024, 12:00:00 AM »
I have a long neglected site that still modestly earns from adsense.  I am hopefully about to get a lot more traffic to it.  Anybody here still plugging away with adsense and have any tips for maximizing earnings?  I noticed that I have "auto ads" off, but can't recall why I did that.  I am  sure there have been changes in strategies in the last 15 years.

My experience is that the auto ads earn much more, but they are very intrusive and hurt user experience. I only left them running on unimportant sites.

Thanks.  I guess last time I looked at my adsense account the auto ads weren't a thing yet.  They do seem appealing in some ways in that they will just place ads where the algorithm thinks they will get the highest clicks, but man are they aggressive.  I've disabled the ad in between  page loading feature.  I think that would turn a lot of people off.  I may switch back to the traditional ad on the home page and leave the auto-ads on the forum.

>> the ad in between  page loading feature

Weather.com has then on every load it seems. Strangely, I don't find them that annoying on desktop. In some ways less than on-page ads that clog up the page load. Of course that's because Weather.com has trained me to wait for ad, close it, then get my forecast.

It's been a long time since I've had AdSense on anything, but it appears to be one of the few subforums at WMW that still seems to get new topics.
