Aff Programs / Community Groups
« on: July 26, 2021, 01:02:28 PM »
Wondering if anyone has any wisdom on this kind of setup: raising funds for local community charity projects with revenue from aff programs.

Guess it could be setup a couple of ways
1) Simply links with aff code saying "by visiting our partners and purchasing, a % of proceeds will go to our community projects"
2) Flesh it out a bit into an aff site with the same aim but having something more substantial to show for it.

Any thoughts, is it a no no for aff program rules typically?

My first question is 'How local?'  Neighbohood? City? Region?

2nd question is how are you going to gather their eyeballs?

My wife uses Nextdoor site daily to keep up with our neighborhood.  I'm thinking a well-pitched post for local charities might get traction there or similar. Or FB?  But sustaining interest & top-of-mind awareness over the long term is going to be tough.

In the US, you're going to need a tax ID number for some person or organization to be an aff, so somebody has to be the formal front end --taxes, accounting.

Cheers for the response

>how local

Just to local town, circa 20K people. The local community council have a fund raising of £8K for sprucing up the town with flowers. They're at 20% of their target. I suggested this idea to them.

Their website/FB presence is reasonable, I'd be willing to put in a few hours of work to get this kind of thing going. Was just thinking wrt idea 1) that it may fall foul of aff rules about encouraging clicks but I guess not a huge problem for CPA?

Will take a closer look at Nextdoor.

Think I'd leave the accounting side to them, since they'll be setup to deal with it.

I wouldn't think most affiliate managers would have any issues with this. We do similar setups for alumni groups, team fan communities, some cities and local organizations, non-profits, etc.

We have seen some very strong success with the "Shop and Support" type messaging which is what you are looking at.

Good to hear. Guess with decent awareness and the amount of cash people spend online nowadays, it can add up to a decent amount. Links would definitely be easier, wonder if a search bar and using some APIs would be more effective. Would appreciate if you could PM an example site just for interest.

Cheers

>>weeds

I love that. As a naturalist, it's surprising difficult to explain to some people that "weeds" are just plants that one or more persons dislike. Beyond that, there's no such thing as a weed.
