At least one merchant has used Amz dumping to build their obsolete, PITA catalog mailing list.  I picked up a closet full of excellent TALL shirts for $7 ea. I also picked up a PITA catalog in the mailbox.

Paper catalogs notwithstanding, using Amz dumping isn't a bad way to buy possible future customers.  Though it is extremely rare for me to go outside the Amz wall because of my efforts to maintain the ccard silo, I'd expect the ploy would work well for the masses.

This interests me

I donít think of Amazon as a place where our customers discover products.

Is that true for all platforms?
Not at all. The Asian platforms or marketplaces are much better for discovery.

HOW are the asian platforms better?  I agree that Amz isn't great at discovery as I have to frequently employ deep search skills learned in seo to dig out products for myself. Tech-savvy others in the family come to me more than occasionally for discovery help on Amz, so I know it's a problem.

You are not normal :-)

It's a  different way of life though. They do things differently. Alibaba is an odd one for example
