What this fails to mention is how much the most benefits Facebook, Amazon and Google. As users interact with this services so frequently killing cookies that are >24hrs old doesn't impact the big three as much. They're also ensuring that the advertising cookies are wrapped into broader cookies so that the "direct relationship" angle stops them being caught in by (the current implementation of) ITP. 

Google has already moved the adwords conversion tracking cookie to be on the analytics domain rather than googleadservices.com in response to this.

First we heard the internet was destroyed *by* advertising, now it is being destroyed by *blocking* cookies (not, mind you, blocking advertising, but by blocking the tracking that lets people figure ROI in a way they never could before the internet).

And how's this for irony or synchrony, depending on how you look at it (see screenshot)
