Water Cooler / Re: Possible CoreCon 2019 - Maybe
« on: October 16, 2018, 06:42:30 PM »
Sorry y'all, been AWOL.

I am down for ash/gvl or where ever you guys want to go. Say when/where and I'm in.

Greenville is kinda boring for traditional corecon. Better for shooting guns and going water skiing and such. AVL would be a better fit IMO. Buncha hipsters tho.

>mailbird

Is this better than thunderbird?

The paid version is great, if you want to pay.  The free version only lets you have one account.

Well that's kind of ridiculous. I don't mind paying, but trying it out will require usage of more than one account.

I used to carry our work phone but now that's someone else's ball'n chain. Kept everything separate. Work phone has a number that we don't use. We just forward all call tracking numbers to it with a whisper on each so we know how (which brand) to answer the phone.

My phone now gets little action, and I friggin love it.

>One Vietnam sim, one  UK sim (now covers Europe, no extra charges)
just ordered Amy a Note9 dual sim earlier today and was thinking we should pop over there to test out that feature.

I typically injure myself within 6 months. I get stronger and ramp up too quickly. Personal training has helped me not do this. I think I've shaved 10 years off my physical ability in the last 9 months.

Still in it to win it, if anyone wants to recommit.

Y'all must be getting old?

MS trying to figure out how to build their own walled garden is really becoming quite the pain in the a##. Quit changing everything for the worse, idiots.

Who needs local pc results for a web search? Who needs a web search when looking for local files? I guess what I really want to know is, who asked for this?

>In a recent(ish) video interview of Warren Buffett he mentioned how he preferred to read rather than watch or listen because he could scan and process the information so much faster by reading.

This this this!!! There is no way to quickly glean tidbits from video. I hate video for business/tech unless I need to see someone doing something, which is extremely rare.

In IM circles this sh## has gotten really bad. All the fuckurus (TM drastic) are too lazy to write anything and it's all tons of videos of some idiot blabbering on to fill out "the content." Such a waste of time. It has gotten so bad one of the first things I check is support for text vs. video. If it's all video, axed.

Marketing / Re: How your media buying agency is screwing you over

>I feel like they prey on people who do not know how to read the numbers or do not have independent ways to verify sales or something. Or busy people who think they can trust their ad agency.

I think a lot of it is just ignorance. People have no idea what they are doing, and more importantly what they should be doing. I have a client we just picked up that has been using a YP-ish agency for 15 years. They are still on page 5. I saw another proposal they received that said location didn't matter for local, and their location landers would just be built as 350 word blog posts with a stock photo each. Big money for this nonsense.

"Every damn digital marketing agency you will ever come across, from Bangladesh to Bolivia, will use the following buzzwords “tech savvy,” “creativity,” “innovation,” “social media guru,” “passionate,” “data-driven creatives,” “deep insight,” “story-telling,” “big ideas,” and so on."
*Every damn incompetent agency.
We have but one guy who is allowed to say the word "guru" in our building, he brought us 3 clients just this year.
