34  Why We Are Here / Water Cooler / Jose steps in to keep Maria from slapping NC on: September 18, 2017, 11:15:46 AM
Again, I'm logging the sketchy, long-term tracking here to see if it's even close.  This one is pretty bizarre.

After nicking the NC coast today and tomorrow, Jose goes up to NY and loops back. In the meantime, Maria is headed pretty much straight for the Carolinas.   On Monday, the 25th, the remnants of Jose comes ashore at the NC-VA border. The spin of its winds deflect Maria away from the US coast and over toward Bermuda.

Judging from the news articles, Japan is significantly ahead of the rest of the world in robotic elder care. But, damn, the prices are astronomically high. Even after the bleeding edge dulls, they are going to be too pricey for the masses for quite a while.

Meanwhile, where's my damn$300-ish robot puppy?

At the end of August, Amazon quietly expanded the cities included in the alcohol delivery service through Prime Now

No decision yet on the new HQ, but they did just sign a lease for some serious space in University City.

IIRC they've eased up on that already after the pitchforks got close to their homestead. I get pop-ups now asking if Now, Later, or Snooze.

According to the splash screen, I just received the Creators Update.  A couple of icons appeared in the taskbar but were easily unpinned. So far, I've not seen any changes in my desktop or file explorer.

Initial boot seems slower, but not by much.

Yes!  Lately there's been a spate of small inserts of vids down the right column or as above the fold pop-ups.  Media sites, in particular, seem to think you *have* to watch vids rather than read. If I wanted a TV, I have one already.

I already keep my machines muted.

>Rules

I wouldn't be worried about the rules as much as the LISTS current, common-place technology can compile.  Within a year, Calif -or US AG Sessions- could have a nice database of marijuana users.

The regulations establish more specifically that deliveries "may be made only in person by enclosed motor vehicle," and that cannabis goods "may not be visible to the public during deliveries
