30 mins (8km) on the bike today at highest resistance, done nothing for weeks, eating well and smoking less, realising that drink is the trigger of the domino-effect of excuses stopping exercise. Bloody gf keeps buying booze, i'm strong-willed enough not to go and buy it but if it's in the house ...

Had massive data-loss due to a win10 update recently, a scraping tool i ahven't used for years but want now that i've forgotten the name of, it was basic, HTML reports, generated MASSIVE spreadsheets due to the cross-referencing (many GBs) and was free ?

in a few years you'll just be thinking 'why did i give a f###?'

maastrchit treaty, EU, bla bla, society absorbs it all and rolls with the punches.

As the famous Glaswegian philosopher Scotrates used to say "Nay bother Pal" :)

Teens and middle aged users, clicking and swiping on their phones while the world turns around them.

What is the deal with watching TV AND social media-ing?

Like the film Wall-E, we'll all end up as blimps with vanilla-sludge being constantly fed to us, if we're not careful!

I need one for spiders & wasps.

A drone with an AI-controlled laser ? Someone built a ground-based one for mosquitos that worked by searing their wings.

>>memorize a specific house

I just trained a neural net to do my house. It's pretty simple.

Their paper... indicates that people who use social media sites heavily actually display some of the behavioral hallmarks of someone addicted to cocaine or heroin.

Both cocaine and social media (and sugar) target the dopamine drive.

Sugar is a killer, the Dad of my first long-term gf had a book on his shelf "Pure, White and Deadly", looked like cocaine on the cover but it was good old Tate & Lyle. Mad that there's 6 teaspoons of it in a cola. Life's just a merry-go-round of toxic pleasures it's not fair! I want Madeira cake now.

Didn't know you were a historian, that's unexpected! Any particular time-frame?

Being involved with computers since having an Atari 2600 in the early 80s, playing tank combat, asteroids and tennis, then buying the BASIC cartridge to start programming, then getting the 520ST then the 1040ST Ad Nauseum ... computers do suck us in, it's the instant gratification, whether you're programming graphics or checking likes on your post.

Social scientists have written theses on it but it's just common sense, it's communication minus a lot of the involvement if it's something like FB messenger, no face, no body-language just instant comms.

I love tech but we are analogue creatures, digital is so un-natural, it's transforming us unhealthily as far as actual-life-interactions go. I suffered terribly from it for a long while, it's like anything - if you get hooked you become it. It's the speed of it, it makes you want everything at that speed.

One of them is to try and find google searches for which there's no result, obviously limiting oneself to actual words, not gobbledeygook (spelling?).

I remember trying 'anal death c###', that turned out to be a band ... 'i'm going to set your baby on fire' being one of their hits.

I just found one, it happens now and then, it was 'led joke guy' (as in light emiting diode).

I guess it may be a cheap way in to finding unusual business models ;+}

I don't know why i post these things here, it's because i've left twitter probably. I'm sorry ;+}
