Could loss of taste, smell be linked to COVID-19? 2 N.J. doctors say evidence is mounting.

A doctor friend of ours is pushing this message

from another thread;
> have two college kids, one in high school and one in elementary.  All are continuing school remotely.

I'm betting that the average US home doesn't have the hardwire firepower lying about the house to accommodate 2 work-at-home parents and 2-3 school-at-home kids.  According to recent stats, everybody but Mackin & I had ditched their keyboards in favor of phones.

My company is a week into mandatory remote working. Going pretty smoothly in the main but the emerging pain points are, well, pain points...

So many are working off laptops, no external kit. No proper desk or suitable chair.

There's a chunk of the workforce in shared apartments with multiple people all sharing the broadband and limited space.

Then there's those with kids at home and varying degrees of home office set up.

The noise is all positive and sh## is getting done, but a new type of pain likely to reveal itself over the next week or two.

Chiropractors and osteopaths are the c19 winners in H2.

UK schools to shut indefinitely from Friday. No exams this summer.

My Hotel has refunded... The whole of the Tyrol is shutting down this weekend. Just Easyjet to tackle.

Switzerland a little later to react but have now decided to close all ski areas from Sunday.

Free cancellation on our hotel with Booking and for the flights a voucher we can use within a year with BA to any destination, so not really out of pocket.

Glad I got 2 trips in before this kicked off. Mrs C (who didn't) isn't so sanguine.

There is a group of 10 of us, 3 families. We are booked to leave on 30th for 5 days.

I think that the flights will have been cancelled before we get to that date, and I am not cancelling, as then my insurance will not pay out.....

If I can fly, we "might" still go, but it really depends on what is happening on the ground, but I think it is getting to be unlikely. dont you?

Less and less likely by the day.

Similar boat.  At least we haven't paid up front for the hotel, just the flights.  My biggest fear about taking the trip (if its even possible) is ports closing whilst we're away or some enforced quarantine that delays us getting home.  Time for a back up plan.

so  do you think I should go to Austria Skiing at the end of March?

Rupert, what's your current thinking?

I have a ski trip booked at the same time in Switzerland and am keeping a close eye on things.

All the Northern Italian ski resorts have shut for the season this week.

In Austria:  Ischgl has shut all apres ski bars - though restaurants and the lifts remain open.  I see St Anton seems to be shutting some apres ski bars - not 100% confirmed.

Blimey, that is more severe than my view...  so  do you think I should go to Austria Skiing at the end of March?

Just got back from a weekend snowboarding in Austria.  Got a cold, but think I'll survive.  Also got a trip planned at the end of March, to Switzerland.  No intention of cancelling.  Will see how things look in 3 weeks time.

massive growth in the UK from about 2014 to 2017, then a tiny amount of new breweries opening in 2018.  I've seen a few reports similar to this one over the past year or so...

I've read a number of Jon Ronson books covering some interesting encounters with Mr Icke.

TBH I didn't realise he was still alive.

IIRC, he gets some coverage in "The Psychopath Test: A Journey Through the Madness Industry" and "Out of the Ordinary: True Tales of Everyday Craziness" and/or possibly "Them: Adventures with Extremists".

The titles alone may give a flavour.

Surprisingly the first time the BBC have used automated content production

Seems like a reaction to all the publishers who default nofollow their editorially granted links, which nofollows I imagined Google would be ignoring anyway.

Perhaps they felt they couldn't ignore those nofollows without updating their stated interpretations of nofollow and allowing other nuanced use cases.
