Want to know what is going on in the world's hot spots or want to know where the next hot spot is?  Current affairs, conflict, diplomacy from a military POV.

Yes it's from a British Forces perspective but this is good since the UK pays attention and reports on parts of the globe that US news media overlooks. And since it is intended for UK Forces it's not dumbed down like mainstream media.

Last I looked was available on iTunes (podcast) and other podcast directories.

I never thought about the kid angle.  This could be big.

Too late, we're already there.  Most people are as dumb as a sack of hammers.

My whole neighborhood is being overrun by rabbits and chipmunks which find refuge here from the coyotes which roam the surrounding woods.

I'd pay big money if someone would invent a hunter/killer outdoor robot to go after these critters.  I envision two versions:

1. Humane Suburban Rated Version.  This would chase said critters around firing laser aimed Nerf guns (foam rubber projectiles) at them.  Object: annoy them so much the critters move along. Must sing, "Kill the wabbit!" in an Elmer Fudd voice while chasing.

2. Texas/Rural Version. Shoots real shotgun shells.  Texas only version could also be used in urban areas cos Texicans are used to that sort of thing.  Must sing "Kill the Wabbit!" so you know it's on the hunt.

Another reason not to have a debit card!

Civil Forfeiture is unconstitutional IMHO.

It's not a big step from a self driving car to a self flying plane.  But in order to reach the masses, it will need to be self flying without a pilot on board.

US Cellular is a Chicago based company (which sold off its Chicago bandwidth, go figure) back before Smartphones they had a great reputation for reliable voice connections in this area that few other telco's could match.  They were favored by doctors because of this.  Great customer service. US Cellular started lagging behind on 3G and 4G coverage, but they seem to have caught up again.

OTOH insurers are giving a break to cars with anti-theft devices: Tracking, theft alerts to owner, remote engine shut-down.

The tracking is a double edge sword of course, re. privacy.

That battlefield is to be always listening to you in your home.

Dave Bowman: Hello, HAL. Do you read me, HAL?
HAL: Affirmative, Dave. I read you.
Dave Bowman: Open the pod bay doors, HAL.
HAL: I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

Amazon already has Echo, Google, Apple and MS are cooking up something similar.  Oh yes and Samsung is listening through your smart TV with more to come.
Some thoughts on how it could change search:

Also a good study about how Echo users use it and where:

Interesting comparison of current Voice Recognition abilities:

While having something connected to the internet and always on creeps me out, I can see the utility: I often grab a tablet to search for things or ideas I see while watching TV.

Makes sense for TOR to switch to DDG because of privacy and DDG is not over burdened with ads.

I have the same feeling.  That said, I find myself posting less and less personal stuff online.

So what are they spending money on?

I see a lot of foodies out there that are willing to spend at a good restaurant.  Ditto on brew pubs.

I learned a lot from that.  I always thought corn liquor or bourbon was king forever in the South.  Interesting bit on Southern beer too, Prohibition really did a lot of damage to our Sacred Drinking Heritage.
