"From 10 miles away, Miller and Valasek proceeded to hack into his car's software, toggling the windshield wipers, blasting the radio, and, eventually, cutting the transmission. Later, the hackers also managed to take over the brakes and sent the Jeep into a ditch."

Water Cooler / Periscope and Meerkat

Live streaming apps.  Stream your life, anytime, live.  Link to your live stream instantly pops on Twitter.
News delivery is going to change quite a bit.

Has anyone been keeping up with the news of these?
My understanding is that Meerkat started this, and Twitter responded with Periscope.

Elon Musk just open-sourced all of Tesla's patents.
Ballsy move.  I wonder if there are motives other than altruism.

Monetization / Speaking of streaming video...
« on: January 04, 2011, 10:08:09 PM »
Anyone streamed video it for profit?  I only began to see the potential a few weeks ago.

The pro gaming community are streaming their matches, tournaments, and lessons live.  They play commercials at page load and as desired between matches.  They also advertise lessons at $20-$50/hour.  HOw can WE make money with this?

Web Development / Easy Maintenance CSS/Flash graph
« on: December 06, 2010, 06:39:08 AM »
I want to place a dynamic line graph on a webpage.  Low maintenance is key.  I'd love to be able to upload a new .txt or .xls and have the chart update from the data file.  With some quick research, I found a couple ideas (below).  But, there must be a better solution.  Anyone have any recommendations?

1st resource:  Graphs with CSS / PHP  http://www.terrill.ca/design/vertical_bar_graphs/
2nd resource: Open flash chart   http://teethgrinder.co.uk/open-flash-chart/

"These days your fingers are likely walking on iPad touchscreens, not dead tree pages. After a decade of obsolescence, the local phone directory is finally getting the chop as states wise up to reality. "

IIRC, your prediction was correct to the year, RC.

I hadn't seen this one.  Toyota has an "Asimo" robot that plays a pretty good violin.  Wow.
