With or without Yang's help, Yahoo has been run into the ground.  Yang should have left 12 years ago.

Come on, Yahoo, get pushing your search marketing side and produce a rival to Adsense. Microsoft, too!

They tried that with typical Y! sexy name: Yahoo Something Something Network Something.  Like all Yahoo projects it got 3 months of hype and effort and then languished, unfinished and ignored for 2 more years until somebody finally killed it.

It's not directly relevant, but one of my friends just got laid off by Y! He was working in the maps division, then got pruned in a headcount reduction exercise. Then it turned out that a different section had sacked too many people, and no longer had the headcount to complete their project, so he was offered a temp contract there. Because they were so far behind schedule, the whole section (including him) were given a 50% salary bonus. Awesome

Was it Yang who said it was okay for them to be in number two position?  What a stupid thing to say...  I remember when Y dumped Inktomi (basically ruining the company's value) and then bought them up for a couple of dollars a share.  It seemed brutal and smart at the time.  They had a big advantage in PPC with Overture too.  I don't think it is as simple as them getting out-played by Google, this isn't G's genius at work.

No they didn't get outplayed by Google, they squandered their opportunities or just missed them.  It was mismanagement that killed Y!
