Analytics & Tracking Software
« on: January 22, 2013, 05:48:19 PM »
It seems that Google analytic's are giving less and less information away for natural search/SEO traffic than ever before - its a free service so I can't complain to much, but that brings up another question as what to recommend to new and existing clients.

What are you guys using at the moment other than Google Analytics?

As a side note I have been using trackur.com for social media monitoring/tracking  and I've been relatively happy with the results, I'm just wondering if anyone has any other tools/services they would recommend.

Someone on here mentioned Piwik recently, which is now working with log files as well as JavaScript tags. That's what I'm migrating to, as I'm a big fan of Sane/Unica/IBM NetInsight, and Piwik seems to offer a lot of the same benefits. However, if the traffic on Eric Peterson's Web Analytics Forum is anything to go by, Google and Adobe/Omniture are the only vendors with big market share at the moment.

Edit: And it may well have been IrishWonder!

I know I've mentioned it on Twitter/FB - don't think I did here

Piwik

I just asked via Twitter the other day "What does Google Analytics have that Piwik doesn't?" and didn't get an answer. So I'll ask you - what would be missing (except of course previous history)?

Piwik looked pretty good on the demo page, but it's hard to tell from a demo sometimes

Interesting. You're using a paid account? How long have you been using them?

Yes, doing a paid account with them.

Been with them for what 2-3 years now. Think it was DaveN that tipped me off way back.

Been using clicky (or getclicky what ever you want to call it) for about a year now on a site I own.

And I really like it.
They've done a good job with the interface, gives you all the information that matters and are committed to the platform.

I like how how I place a widget on phone and I can see at a glance the traffic on my site.
Plus having this up on a big screen for all too see is soooo cool (that's just the geek inside of me though) :) - http://clicky.com/stats/bigscreen?site_id=32020&date=2013-01-25

I did sign up with a cracking discount through appsumo but unfortunately it's not there any more. There maybe another one somewhere else tho.

Highly recommended by me, if that means anything :)

Would running Clicky and Analytics at the same time be a bit too much?
