If you don't count atm machines (I use one local one and check it as best I can for skimmers) I do not bank online.  Period. You'd be surprised at how many proven-to-be-otherwise-savvy people think I'm a paranoid nutcase by requiring paper checks.

IMO, you cannot effectively silo your info if you use credit/debit cards.  Those guys were the first to sell you out and have decades of experience.

Yeah. Ditto. People give me the same look. I let nobody have electronic access to my bank accounts except PayPal, and that is a throwaway account with a purposely minimal balance. Google wallet or Apple pay have no chance getting used by me.

We had this conversation before: I've reduced most of my shopping to Amazon or merchants who use Paypal because their security is perceived by me to be better than the average shopping cart.  Now even with that there is always somebody higher up the food chain who can get your info but that is life.

No paypal access to my bank, either.  After the first year or two, they quit asking for verification.

Notice how quiet it gets here when you tell them they can't bank online? Hhh

Yeah... I used to be like that when I lived 10 mins from the bank. Now that it's over an hour away.... I bank exclusively online... albeit with much trepidation

And rightfully so.

Did you know that even the Feds can't get US Banks to disclose when they've been hacked?  Banks have decided that the bad public relations (and run on their assets) is worse, so they paper over the breach.  Note, too, that if you have any business accounts online, they have absolutely no legal protection.  So far, banks -usually, but not always- cover the losses but it's at their discretion.
