Google loves brands?

I don't hear this much anymore... but for a while people would say you couldn't rank against a brand because Google favored brands in the algo. I'm mostly posting this just to get Roger upset and spoil his Easter. It's one of my hobbies.

Anyway, Google loves brands? Apparently not if you're ClickFunnels and Google doesn't like your pricing page.

Some affiliate is making bank

If that's a recent ranking change, it could be evidence of Google's mobile first index at work. John Mueller specifically called out large tables as being a form of data display that might not work as well for Voice Search. So if voice search compatibility signals are a part of the mobile first index, then this might be evidence of that.

ClickFunnel's page is a huge table. So maybe Tables are the new Macromedia Flash for the mobile first SERPs?

I wonder if Google might just drop tables for voice queries and keep them when they think users are happy to consume them... desktop ok, mobiles maybe, auraly no

Nice insight Roger. That completely makes sense. I didn't look deeper to see why it might be happening (didn't actually look at the pages b/c I was in a hurry and it was clearly not what I was looking for).

The table pages still rank number one. They just can't rank for position zero. Position zero are the featured snippets that Google voice assistant reads out in response to a spoken query.

So yes, Google is still keeping them, but excluding them from the voice search.

Right. In my screenshot and the ones in your article, it's the snippets where the competitors win. The affiliates who have done this well must be making a killing. I have not checked recently, but Bluehost always paid out around $100 per signup.

[update: currently $65 which is still a nice payout - someone is doing very well with that featured snippet until Bluehost gets their act together]
