>almost 60% of Instagram users are between the ages of 18 and 29, compared to 36% of Twitter's users

None of the young people I know use twitter at all.

They should just cash in on Trump as much as possible, open up his posts to preview ads sold to the highest bidder -- rake it in while they can and then sell the husk to RT when the only people left watching are bots.

One area I do see thriving on Twitter is sports. Lots of reporters use it to break news and some players are very interactive. But this falls into RC's bucket of "none of the people I know".

As a general medium, yeah, it is dying. But there are some audiences out there where it is still doing well.

A lot of surfer friends here in Cape Town use it for swell reports - a few of them have several thousand followers, when in reality they are surf bums  8)

>breaking news
>surf reports

I've seen some twitter use by colleges and shopping malls to quickly fire off an emergency alert such as a bomb threat or shooter on premises.  From that point, the news is pretty quickly converted to more populated media.  It seems to work for that.
