I read that title and said "no way". Google is not giving up it's default search in it's own browser. They are just including DDG as an option if one switches.

Still, it's there. DDG gained big when Apple included DDG as an option on Safari. Google must be feeling the heat.

I agree it is a big deal. I feel cautiously optimistic for DDG, like there is a chance that they start crawling the web with their own bot and building a 100% independent database, but there is a part of me that feels like it is likely that either Google or MS will buy them and close them down.

LM: The good thing is DDG is privately held. Also I don't think Google could buy due to anti-trust concerns. But MS buying them would be the kiss of death.

I hope they do or have been doing that. They can't be insane enough to think they can rely on Bing feed forever.
