November 18th Drops
« on: November 21, 2011, 12:38:22 PM »
Hi

Anyone see drops on the 18th?  I've had 1 site drop out completely for its main keyword on an EMD .me and a friend as had 2 sites from from around 3000 uniques per day down to 500.

At first I thought I had just hit some sort of anchor text over optimisation filter, all keyworded and no variation.  I know... but I've done this on other EMDs and had no issue.  But my friend has 2 other sites with massive drops on the same day...

Anyone else?

I, Brian

Not seen anything here - all sites are moving up and consolidating strong positions after recent work.

Thanks for letting me know... It's weird.

Personally nothing I have has been affected by Panda, but my friends site is a feed driven affiliate site, probably the classic target for panda.  It was fine until the 18th.  All 3 sites are still in the index, still have all pages indexed, really strange.

Thanks again :)

Haven't seen it on our sites yet, but Barry confirmed a Panda update at the 18th:

Yeah I've saw some drops on one site, thought it might have been that dodgy link builder from fiverr, but now I'll blame Google instead :)

It's possible you just fell out of the system temporarily due to the update.

Seen this happen before with sites that appear to disappear for one or more keywords during an update, usually due to an incomplete index being used by Google - usually corrected shortly after a full crawl.

Possibly optimistic after Panda, but thought I'd mention it anyway.

Hi Brian

I thought that could be the case.  A few days before I capitalised the meta title, ont he 18th-19th the title was still showing as lower case, it wasn't until 1/2 way though the 20th that the title changes to caps.  I checked using the site:domain.com command.

I had thought maybe a data center went down and they would need to reindex my links - its happened before - but then i have a few sites with very similar links and they remained the same... :(

Another thing I hadn't mentioned, and I'm not a conspiracy guy or anything but... My site was rejected from adwords the same day as the site dropped.....

I've made the content better and they are looking at allowing my site again, if they approve and my site appears in the rankings again I might become a conspiracy guy :D
