I've read a few papers that discuss the magnetic behaviour in/around some of the circles, some granite types contain enough magnetite but the magnetic field stops and starts, single points can be N pole one second and S pole the next.
In 1983 a magnetic survey was done on the Rollrights and they were found to have a spiral magnetic field, which puzzled the people donig the geophys.
So i'll be taking some probes and instruments around the UK checking out the circles. There are some people that have gone round with a simple pole tester and it has kept flipping between N and S and also giving no indication at all for periods of time, but this could be interference from power lines or something similar so it's best to go check it out.
It's just puzzling why these people built these thngs, that cost plenty of time and energy to put together, and why do rings of granite and quartzite produce a changing magnetic field, it could be linked to the ground current but the oddest example is the spiral in the Rollrights.
