Drunken Spectator Flies Plane
« on: April 05, 2011, 05:04:45 PM »
 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0WykKgQFLs

This is a video of a stunt pilot who, in real life,
is a Delta Airlines pilot.  His act at air shows is
to pretend that he is a drunken spectator who
rushes from the stands and jumps into a Piper
Cub and takes off without any understanding
of how to fly a plane.

The Piper Cub is actually specifically built to
withstand an enormous amount of stress and
has a very powerful engine.

This type of stunt is actually the most dangerous
of air show acts, because of the low altitude at
which the pilot performs.
Obviously, this pilot possesses unbelievable skill.

That is really impressive - can't argue with the skill factor involved - unbelievable

I like that wing grinder thing... or whatever you would call that:) I sent it to my dad, who has both a fixed wing and a commercial heli license so he could sent it to his buddies.

I know it's not a real plane, but this RC demonstration I find mesmerizing:

This is one absolutely amazing remote controlled [RC] model airplane. Not only did they build its jet engines, but included a retractable landing gear, and built it into a fully scaled model of the SR-71 "Blackbird" that flies just like the real McCoy. This SR-71 model was built by an Engineer / RC enthusiast in Germany and is certainly one awesome toy!

I'd buy one but I've had two RC helicopters and both are parked up 16 foot trees in Wandsworth park  >:(

Haha yeah I never really had one but I imagine trees and rooftops have claimed there fair share:)

But did you SEE that thing? Once they get that big, I think they call them drones:)

Got the chance to get up close to a real SR-71 a couple of weeks ago. Just a stunning piece of kit.

I saw one in a hanger just like this in UT... but I guess they all are going to look the same sitting in a hanger:)  I can't imagine they have that many on display(?)
