You don't have to go somewhere so exotic, the second photo on this page is in California from Feb 2011 which BEFORE the storm that dropped 10.5 feet of snow at my house (March 22-24, 2011):

You can drive to that spot in 2 hrs from the Bay Area and never leave Highway 80.

They get some silly snow up there in the northern mountains of Japan. If you look at a weather map sometimes it looks like they get precipitation constantly.
You should see the mudslides in the Spring...
I haven't seen snow in decades. Almost miss it...
