True.  Although I wouldn't call Twitter (which I use daily) as fundamental, still slowly but surely Big Money is buying up all the fundamental plumbing and underpinnings of the Internet. 

For instance, someday soon your website will end up being hosted on either Amazon Cloud, MS Cloud or Google Cloud because the hosting company you picked decided to outsource shared hosting and abandoned their own servers.
