I just did a store run.  7 degrees now, -18F tonight.  Tomorrow High of -11F and Low of -20F.   

I hope we do not lose electric power.

We avoided this because yours truly had to run in to pee... otherwise we probably would have been on this lift

The temperature estimate (20 degrees) was probably a bit high, but fortunately for them, it warmed up as the snow came in. Earlier in the morning it was about 10 degrees with winds too strong to run the lifts (half the lifts were closed all day).

California has made me soft, but I'm adapting. 15F/-9C today felt pretty comfy for skiing.

It's cold enough here.  -13F at 4AM and falling.  It's so cold the Wunderground app on my phone is frozen on Tuesday.

I have turned on the Lavalight to provide a bit of extra warmth in the room.

Yikes! Eventhough we get the cold here too, I've never experienced -38c here before. Noticed Mivox posted something similar with -40 in Fairbanks.

-19F here this morning.  High of 1F today.  Warming to 20's tomorrow.  Forecast says it will be 53F on Monday with rain.

We've had worse.  Back in 1985ish  it was -23F and we had huge piles of snow on the ground.  Somehow we continued to function during that, but I was younger then too.

I think I've actually told this story. One night it was -28 back in the late 1970s. Car had a low tire and my dad asked me to go fill it and the tire went cathunk cathunk cathunk for two miles until it warmed up. Meanwhile, the reprobate nephew of the neighbors across the street broke into their house to steal some cash. He knew they had an alarm system (only house in the whole neighborhood that had one), so he cut the power.

Every toilet froze and froze so hard that all the tanks shattered and they had something like 30 leaks in pipes. When the power came on and the water started flowing, it came through all the walls. It was like $30K in damage. Nephew got $300 in cash

BTW, supposedly freeze-proof piping (pex) holds up under deep freeze but the valves do not.  Also, the increasingly popular push-on fittings will, umm, push off.

$30K in damage was a lot of money in the 70's. That's close to what houses cost back then.

The deep freeze hasn't reached us here in Western Mass. We got down to negative single digits. Supposedly getting into the negative teens tonight.

Last year around this time I remember it getting to about -17 a couple days.
