Muscle in my bum.  I pulled it a year ago, and have just not been clearing the problem.  now it is cleared I think .  Just fantastic news for me.  I have just been resting/stretching/rolling out for nearly 2 months. My last run was mid October.

Nice. Those things are so frustrating, so good to hear you're back. Don't stress it! I hurt my calves some years back and it took months before I cleared it and could run again, but I kept overdoing it and being rght back where I was. Slow learner

>How are you feeling now littleman?

Still a bit under the weather, but I did have a busy Sunday of getting chores done.  After our fourth washing machine died in 17 years (it was only 2 years old and had the transmission break, a $200 part and a lot of work to install) I dreaded the thought of shelling out $500 for another machine.  Modern appliance quality really isn't what it use to be.  So, I looked on craigslist and found a used unit for $20.  I borrowed a van and took my weight lifting daughter with me to grab it.  We showed up with some lifting straps.  The man at the door was very distraught.  I think it really bothered him that a girl was going to help me pick up the machine.  I finally told him that she's stronger than she looks, then my daughter said, "I can leg press 530, I'm fine."

Anyway, I put the $20 machine in place and it seems to be working fine.  It looks to be from the 1980s.  I figure, if it lasts six months I am ahead.

That's awesome.

Our washer is from the 1980s I think. A neighbor gave it to us when they upgraded and we were almost done building. I keep thinking of upgrading because it is not water efficient, but as you say, the new appliances have terrible reliability. In our case it has always been the circuit boards that fry.

A sad week for me this time. After 27 days straight of getting either exercise or stretching in every day, a art-judging meeting went hours longer than expected, and I missed Friday. I realized it as I was getting ready to crawl into bed at nearly mid-night with a 6am wake up scheduled the next day, and I just got into bed anyway. I guess I now just need to beat 27 days?

1 alpine ski day, 1 XC ski day, hiked Mt. Mansfield in VT, 2 days of stretching and a 7 min workout. 6/7.

>ST: A sad week...6/7.

That is not sad at all!  You and Ergo seem to be a very driven couple.

Ergo, this is one of those bugs that are somewhat like the flu but last much longer.  Right now it seems to be working its way through the family.  It started with our youngest, then I got it, now Kelsey has it.  My wife seems to have some magical power to not get sick until the rest of us are on the mend.  I am on day five right now and I'm gradually getting better.

Kind of missed that. I think actually we like to have fun, but do find a lot of forms of exercise to be fun. I don't think we're particularly driven. Theresa is a bit more driven then me though. For me, if I'm not having fun at something I have a lot of trouble continuing.

I don't mind breaking a sweat at all and will go to exhausting extremes if I'm working on something.  (Exhausting changes considerably as the years add up, though. Wait until you hit 58, then you'll see what I mean.) I find exercise for exercise's sake incredibly boring. I sort of envy those who enjoy the gym or outdoor stuff but I'm always thinking This is a waste of my time, I could be doing so-and-so!

I'm back home between holiday trips. 173 this morning. Holding up well so far this Fat Season!

Nice job RC.

I did 2/4, still a little sick, but on the mend.

Well done both of you.

Ashamed to say 0/4.

Just a busy week... jumping about.  Only time out has been a bit of chat on here...

Christmas is certainly revving up here! Note to self, must do better!

4/4 - not as energetic as I'd like, but I got out there. Two of which would have not happened at all but for the commitment I've made here. Thanks for your support!

will go to exhausting extremes if I'm working on something.

Ha! I will go to exhausting extremes as long as I'm wandering purposelessly around the mountains and forests. To paraphrase WC Fields, I've spent half my life wandering aimlessly around forests and mountains. The other half I wasted. A famous mountaineer (Lachenal or Terray) titled his biography "Conquerers of the Useless."

>wasted

I grew up working --if not for profit, then for fun/cool stuff. If you look up 'Puritan Work Ethic' I'm sure a picture of my mom & dad will be in the header.  But studying Peter Drucker in business school finished me off.   I'm constantly thinking about the best time management, such as if I start the coffee THEN brush my teeth while it's perking, that's a better use of time.  It's sometimes maddening in an obsessive-compulsive way but I have to do it.

Back on the road for a week or more. This trip will be tough to keep the weight gain within reason.
