>US has significantly fewer hospital beds than we did in the 1970

Rural/suburban hospitals have been closing at a pretty good pace.  Others that remain have been bought out by chains and down-sized to be 'gateway' or feeder hospitals for the primary --hub & spokes style.

Medicare is slated to further gut rural hospital funding soon, and many administrators say they will be forced to close.

From my reading, transmission paths and times are still not adding up.  I'm seeing some reports saying that it now appears that the incubation/asymptomatic transmission period is 24 days.

The other thing is how long the virus can live outside the human body.  I'm seeing reports that it can live up to 5 days, with one report of 9 days.  The problem is the data set is so small right now, nobody really knows.  But I did see news reports that China is sanitizing some currency notes and burning those that are heavily infected.

Other variables: how long the virus can live on what type of surfaces, effects of direct sunlight on it and airborne vectors.

I'm following this blog from one of the infected cities in China:

Been a tough weekend.

Now into our 5th week of self-isolation.

Itís normal now, not going out but L and I are finding it difficult having no time to ourselves now that our eldest refuses to sleep.

I've read 9 days several times now --no telling if they're emanating from a single or multiple reports.  Debbie says the transmission within the cruise ship feels like it survives on surfaces for prolonged periods.  ...Though cruise ships are almost perfect petri dishes.

Star san is a no rinse sanitizer I use for home brewing beer.  This is the greatest stuff.  When I'm brewing I mix up a big bucket of this stuff and sanitize all my equipment.  I also fill a spray bottle and spray down all my counters.  I can plunge my hands in it to dig stuff out of the bucket.

I also use it at bottling and kegging time to Sanitize the bottles and kegs.  The Star san foam residue just breaks down to water and oxygen.  Safer for surfaces than bleach.  Just follow the directions.

Best stuff ever.

BTW:

China state newspaper says coronavirus originated outside wildlife market

https://www.globaltimes.cn/content/1180429.shtml

A) Wuhan is home to China's most advanced virus research laboratory, the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

B) CV-19 is a coronavirus thatís escaping zoological classification and whose novel spike-protein region shares more in common with a commercial genetic vector than any of its wild relatives, and has other unnatural characteristics

Pretty Good Conspiracy Theory:

If it is a runaway lab created virus we're all lucky it isn't more deadly.

I'm afraid you're right.

My mindset is shifting from being ready "if" this comes to my neighbourhood to "when".
