"waning immunity among vaccinated people is leading to a rise in hospitalizations.

While about 6 in 10 Americans are fully vaccinated, more than half received their last shot more than six months ago, the threshold currently recommended for those getting a Moderna or a Pfizer booster. When combined with the 100 million unvaccinated people, about 60 percent of the population is heading into the winter months with reduced protection against the coronavirus.
The Data Point: America’s Covid-19 immunity is waning"

If you and your family members are fully vaccinated against Covid-19, it's OK for you to ditch the masks this holiday season when you're around each other, Dr. Anthony Fauci told CNN Sunday.

"That's what I'm going to do with my family," Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases

In that interview he didn't emphasize the need for boosters enough imo.  I don't think it's wise to have Grandma and Grandpa hanging out with extended families without boosters.

>seasonal

This bit is interesting:

Quote
By sifting for seasonal patterns across individual states, Jalal and his collaborators found very robust results. They argue that the calendar of COVID in North America has already taken shape, in the form of three repeating waves like the ones that swept the continent in 2020: one starting in New England and eastern Canada in the spring, the second traveling north from Mexico over the summer, and the third emanating in all directions from the Dakotas during the fall. In keeping with that idea, their paper predicted a summer 2021 wave in the South, and a fall 2021 wave in the north-central states—which is more or less exactly what happened.

South Africa detects new Covid-19 variant: scientists

https://news.yahoo.com/south-africa-detects-covid-19-134601601.html?fr=sycsrp_catchall

Quote
Scientists said the new B.1.1.529 variant has at least 10 mutations, compared to two for Delta or three for Beta.

"What gives us some concerns (is) that this variant might have not just have enhanced transmissibility, so spread more efficiently, but might also be able to get around parts of the immune system and the protection we have in our immune system," said researcher Richard Lessells.

Congrats.  The booster made me feel pretty sick for a day, very much like the flu.  My wife was kinda run down for three days.  My youngest just got her second vaxx last Saturday, that was a long time coming -- we're finally all vaccinated.

Getting boosted at 11:40 today.

>5G

It's probably going to take at least a dozen shots for us to get 5G out of it.

My arm felt slightly sore but that was about it.

> 5G

Maybe we should hold out for free satellite radio.

My wife (vaccinated back in the spring but no booster yet) tested positive over the weekend. Took an at home test and then went to urgent care to confirm.

So far she is just really tired (can't make it through the day without a nap or two), a slight fever, and she lost her taste and smell. Been about the same since Sunday. None of the rest of us are sick yet. We tested two of the kids this morning and those were negative.
