Debbie says that aerosol transmission by kids may explain some of the at-home-being-good cases.  Anecdotally, no one I know has been truly locking down the kids.

For the first few weeks our kids were pretty much locked down. We would go for drives just to get them out of the house but other than that when everything was locked down we kept them at home. Even now we will take them to parks and take them hiking and the like but still haven't taken them into restaurants or stores or anything like that.

If you are used to dropping the kids off a daycare or school every day and now you have them home all day I can understand why that would make some parents crazy.

What is your definition of "truly locking down?"

I know some very locked down kids, but in situations where two families have decided their kids will play together, but with nobody else. But their kid does see others (like me) as long as it is outdoors and over six feet away. But of course, there are leaks everywhere. Both sets of parents have to get groceries (though actually, the parent I know has *not* gone in a grocery store since Covid - 100% delivery/pickup, no "self shopping" in the store).

Friend's son got sick at summer camp. Came home and infected the mom. He's 9 though. I had read that anyone over 5 was a risk. The new info is that the under-5 set is also at risk

My 20 y.o. left because we were too strict, she's been living with friends for about 2 months now.  The 15 y.o. has had two outdoor meetings with her best friends in family backyards, they stay outside, keep distance and keep their masks on if they are less than 10 ft. away from each other and do not get closer than 6 ft.  The 8 y.o. has had one supervised play date with her best friend also in a back yard and they stayed apart the whole time.

The schools here are not opening up until at least October when they will reassess, but if they were we would not be sending them back.

For once i'm glad i don't have kids, not so bad when there's just you and your Lady.

Under normal conditions i sometimes get pangs seeing Dads with Sons, and Daughters, but every potential Dad wants a Son in addition to a Daughter.

Now i'm glad that i have less to worry about, i can't imagine being responsible for another person during this time, hard enough during average times!

Power to all you parents, must be very hard right now.

Schools in Scotland are re-opening in ~10 days with no restrictions at all for kids. Teachers will have to socially distance but kids will otherwise have a 'normal' school experience. Cases here are bottoming out so we'll see how it goes.

I just can't see how schools will stay open once kids start heading back. I totally understand why a lot of parents will send their kids back, why the parents need the kids in school so they can work, etc. but I can't see how this doesn't end in disaster.
