I was fully expecting to see a lot of this science fiction happen in my lifetime.
Born in 1963, so just old enough to have watched the moon landings live and, what impressed me more (probably because I was a bit older), see people drive cars on the moon. It felt like colonization of places beyond earth was imminent.
I remember when they landed the Mars Rover and someone (I believe Arthur C Clarke, but I can't find a citation), said "If someone had told me in 1969 that we would land a toaster on Mars and be excited about it, I would never have believed them."
Meanwhile, leading computer scientists thought that a machine that understood natural language was on the horizon.
But at the same time, I never imagined having a super computer that I carried in my pocket.
