Yeah, that was being outted on reddit fairly regularly. Putin must've put the squeeze on RT.  But Putin hasn't met my filters yet.

Speaking of which, though I like having Aljazeera as an outside-the-us-news source, I don't think they've had but one or two articles make it past the gauntlet.  On feeds like that, at some point I'll have to make a decision as to whether they're worth bothering with.

Unfortunately, if you filter out war stuff, you filter most of AJ.

There has to be an English language Japanese daily, if I had time I'd look.  I rely on NHK TV news for my objective Asia/Pacific news but that won't do for reading.

Realistically, if a story is big enough --and you're reading via 50+ sources-- it leaks around  the edges a bit.  And I still go out and look at the retail news sites just to keep grounded.   

Reddit has become a surprisingly good general news feed with the filters applied. I hardly recognize it, hhh.

I added them all. Disappointing output so far --maybe weekdays will be better. If not, I'll assign them to the 'on demand' category for casual reading.

Currently at 200+ feeds from 70+ sources after another culling. It's feeling like I've maxxed out due to diminishing returns.

Now I'm bored. The filters are unflinchingly efficient. Even expanding my sources by a factor of 6-8, I've reduced time spent by more than 50%.

BTW, filtered reddit has become one of the best feeds for quality articles ---who'd a thunk that?

Still holding true.  I keep thinking of this when I see mention of a reddit IPO

As for new feeds, the best source as been personalized G News.  I've picked up 4 to add to the review list in as many days.

Good to know should I need to deep-track an event.  I thought Gnews did that, too, but apparently not.  A quick look only turned up the ability to create alerts.

My problem now is culling out sources that tend to be generally redundant and/or full of fluff articles.  I moved Reuters from 'daily' to 'on demand' reading, for instance, because AP & UPI covered everything.

I duplicate a lot with AP, Reuters and BBC, while AP is good it usually has a shallow American slant to world news, Reuters might be the same but they often will have one or two sentences that change the spin a bit.  BBC puts most US sources to shame on World events and they are not so tied in with The Man.
