For those with a sweet tooth and needing to lose weight
« on: January 20, 2017, 09:19:03 PM »
I have a problem with chocolate cake.

And, I'm not even joking. When I crave chocolate cake, I bake a cake and eat the entire thing in a roughly 12 hour period.

In the past, to prevent myself from doing this, I have to stop and just stand there and think about anything else but cake. Grit my teeth and wait for it to go away.  But weight watchers has a solution:  make a small cake to stop the cravings and just eat that.  It's all about portion size.

The recipe is called 3-2-1 cake.

Mix together an angel food cake mix with any other type of cake mix -- in my case chocolate.

The angel food cake has all the ingredients needed to just use water to mix the cake mix and have it come out OK. I've actually tweaked this to 1.5 chocolate cake mixes plus one half of an angel food cake to make "the mix."

In a mug, place:

3 Tablespoons of the mix
2 Tablespoons of water
and put in the Microwave for 1 minute.

Now, you can have a small piece of cake instead of the entire thing.

This has changed my life.

My kids - girls - make those cake-in-a-cup all the time. Pretty neat and almost eatable.

I crave chocolate cake like some people crave cigarettes.  It's crazy.  (But not frosting.  I hate frosting.)

I thought you were going to post about that damn Dash button for random chocolates AMZ has released.  The hype-o-sphere has been yammering about that thing non-stop.

For me, it's just plain chocolate. And when I say "plain" I am not being quite honest. I like chocolate that is 85% to 90% cocoa, so there's usually some other ingredient there. I will eat 70% in a pinch, but I don't consider it real chocolate.

I have, on occasion, been known to mix flour, eggs, sugar and baking powder in with my chocolate, but it's not the same :-)

For me, it's not necessarily the chocolate, however, I do sometimes crave chocolate as well, and, like Ergo, I need REAL chocolate, not that hersheys stuff.

It's something about the moistness and texture of the cake.  Not brownies.  It has to be...cakey.
