Grammy greatness
« on: February 11, 2019, 07:00:34 PM »
One of last night's Grammy winners was classical violinist James Ehnes, originally from Brandon, Manitoba.

He was eleven years old the first time I heard him perform, in Brandon.

He played the opening measures of a Bach fugue as if it were as easy as breathing, and within a few seconds I was in tears, overwhelmed by the recognition of genius.

It's nice to see him walking so well on the world stage.

It must be a real nice feeling to see someone local get international recognition for their talents.

I know his parents slightly. His mother said it was a terrifying responsibility to have a child with such gifts.

James was a preschooler when he announced that he wanted to learn the violin ... inspired by seeing Itzhak Perlman play on Sesame Street.

Mission accomplished, I'd say!

Based on the title of the post, I thought this thread would be you bragging about how a grandchild said you were the greatest ;-)

How fortunate you were to have witnessed his playing when he was a boy.
