This isn't where I thought the development would happen first.  I would presume that small vehicles would have the least amount of pressure to convert their ICE engines over to hydrogen.  I do like the idea of guilt free ICE performance in the future.  High revving mechanical engines are a lot more sexy than electric motors and fuel cells*.

*though, I do still think that's the logical future.

I think it's because bikes are much less complex. It would be much easier to change the powerplant and make a complete unit for testing, R&D.

I personally think we have missed the boat going electric first vs hydrogen.

I agree.  EV's may work just fine in Europe, but in the US we are going to slam up on the limitations of EV's right sharply.

I think hydrogen will get used on things like trains and large trucks first which will help gain consumer acceptance for smaller vehicles.

Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are basically electric vehicles getting their electricity from fuel cells instead of batteries.  The big benefit there for consumers is being able to refuel  in about the same amount of time as it would take to fill up with gas/petrol.  I think that's worth a lot to consumers honestly.

ICE hydrogen engines would be the same there too, very quick to refill, but also you get all the fun of an ICE without most of the pollution.  They're not going to be nearly as efficient as fuel cells though.

To me hydrogen just makes a lot of sense, I think it will win out over batteries in the long run.

I have this hopped up  old Ford 351C 4V (~500hp) I had this fantasy of putting in a 1927 style T-Bucket some day.  It would be so much fun to run that with hydrogen.
